In the early 1970s he began writing songs for his school choir about Easter, which evolved into a Cantata entitled ´Jerusalem Joy'.

He first began composing in order to involve the widest cross section of people as possible in music-making. He also wanted to write Bible stories and Christian truths in a way that was both accessible - and fun! In 1984, Roger gave up teaching to become involved in full-time Christian music.

Since then he has written in excess of 30 musicals and collections.
