As the title suggests, the piece is in the style of the ragtime, medium tempo piano mode. There is a charming piano syncopation counter melody which also enhances a two-part vocal juxtaposition. A descending bass line at the end of the verse dictates a classic chord progression for this genre of tune. The key is G major and is in 4/4/ time.
